75-Ball Bingo: Rules, Patterns and Prizes
75-ball bingo is the American-style game, played on a square card with patterns that change from game to game. Here is how it works.
The 5 by 5 card
A 75-ball card is a 5 by 5 grid with the letters B, I, N, G and O across the top. The centre square is a free space, marked before the game starts, so each card has 24 numbers.
| Column | Numbers |
|---|---|
| B | 1 to 15 |
| I | 16 to 30 |
| N | 31 to 45 (with the free centre square) |
| G | 46 to 60 |
| O | 61 to 75 |
That's why callers in 75-ball games say the letter with the number, such as "N 42", so you know exactly which column to check.
Patterns and how they win
Instead of lines and a full house, 75-ball games are played for a pattern shown before the game begins. The first player to mark every square in that pattern wins.
Common patterns include:
- A single line, across, down or diagonally.
- Four corners.
- Shapes, such as an X, a letter, a picture frame around the edge or a small square in the middle.
- Blackout (coverall), where every square on the card has to be marked.
Some games award prizes for more than one pattern, or let you win with several patterns in the same game. The room shows the pattern, or patterns, in play.
How games run online
- Pick a room and buy tickets before the game starts. Many rooms let you pre-buy for later games.
- The pattern for the game is displayed, often with a small animation showing which squares count.
- Numbers are drawn by a random number generator and marked automatically, and your cards are sorted so the ones closest to the pattern come first.
Because the free centre square counts towards most patterns, 75-ball games can move quickly, especially with simpler patterns such as a single line.
